a mono monitor. MIDITEST - A program to test the integrity of your MIDI
cables. MIDIBOARD - Desk Accessory which graphically represents incoming
MIDI data. MIDIMAPS - MIDI manager maps for loading directly into Cubase.

notes from your keyboard and the program will select notes from the sequence
to give inspiration. MIDI EFFEX by Jonathan Burton - Adds a delay effect to
notes played on a MIDI keyboard. MIDIRAT - Test MIDI equipment on screen for
up to 16 channels. A press of the mouse button shows the note number,

with this program. Generates musical exercises at various levels of
complexity and tests the user's ability. This is a demo version which allows
entry of only 30 notes. SONGS - 7 pieces in MIDI file format. All are well
done but SYMPH_40 and NACHTMUS are outstanding.
MID.3150 Fifteen song files in PRO24 format, plus another nine in standard
MIDI file format. Drum tracks are optimised for standard Roland rhythm
setup. DX100 and XE8 by Nigel Stanley - Shareware MIDI editor programs for
the Akai XE8 drum sample player and Yamaha DX100 synthesiser, including
voices. Comprehensive programs with detailed manuals on disk. Mono emulator
included on disk.
MID.3352 ALGORITHMIC MUSICAL INSTRUMENT - Composes 4 part harmonies from a
list of 16 "candidate" notes selected by the user. Various styles can be
achieved by judicious use of candidate notes and tempo. MIDI output only.
LOCAL CONTROL - A desk accessory (which can also be run as a program) which
allows access to "Local Off" on a MIDI keyboard. Especially useful if your
sequencer does not have the option to turn "MIDI thru" off, or your keyboard
does not have a "Local Off" button, eg; Casio CZ series and Yamaha DX-7.
MIDI MUSIC MAKER v2.26 - "World's most comprehensive music file player".
This claim may well be true as it allows playback of 13 file types from
different computers eg; ST, Commodore 64/128, 8-bit Atari, Colour Computer
(never heard of this one) and PC. Can also create Standard MIDI file format
0 and 1, so for example a Music Studio file can be loaded, converted to a
.MID file, saved, and re-loaded into a sequencer. THE PANIC BUTTON - If your
GEM sequencer does not have a panic button when stuck notes occur, this
useful desk accessory sends an "all notes off" message to all 16 MIDI
channels. KAWAI SPECTRA EDITOR/BANK MANAGER by Joost Overmars - An
editor/librarian for this synthesiser. Also includes a simple sequencer.
Docs are in both English and Dutch. VOICESEL - A MIDI voice selector
accessory which enables any voice from 1-128 to be sent to any MIDI channel
(1-16) on the synth. Also includes MIDI thru on/off buttons. Kawai Spectra
editor is mono only. All other programs run in colour or mono.

timbral mode of Roland D5/D10 synths. It has a 15 second delay to encourage
registration. EKER'S SEQUENCER v1 - A 100 track, 240 ppqn sequencer running
in colour or mono. Saves and loads in standard MIDI format. Graphic (piano
roll) and event editor, punch in/punch out, quantise and many other features
make this a powerful PD sequencer. IN CONTROL MIDI MANAGER - A user
definable MIDI controller. Provides 20 sliders which can be programmed to
control MIDI instruments eg; as a mixer or basic synth editor. Works as a
program or accessory and includes pre-programmed files. LEXLAX01 - An editor
for the Lexicon LXP-1 synth. Includes a once only setup program. Works as a
program or desk accessory. LEXLAX05 - As above but for Lexicon LXP-5.
PLAYBACK - Load and play standard MIDI files. Several parameters on screen
allow channels, patches, tempo etc; to be set according to taste and synth
being used. ROBO BOP v1.97 - An easy to use drum editor which saves files in
standard MIDI format or dumps patterns straight to a drum machine. The
default drum set is mapped for Roland instruments but any set can be
configured. Plenty of other operating parameters such as volume, name and
MIDI channel. This version has 4 patterns available at once and sequences of
up to 250 steps can be programmed with extensive control over volume, drum
sounds, tempo, loop points, and much more. It can also be used to write
melodies or RIFFs using instrumental patches rather than drum sounds.
Patterns can be saved in its own format but if you use it and want to save
as standard MIDI files you must register. TX81 ZIP - A desk accessory which
allows you to load and send a patch or bank of patches in Yamaha system
exclusive format without exiting your sequencer. TIME SHEET - Designed
primarily for recording studios but could be used for any business charging
an hourly rate for services, and selling a limited amount of items. It
handles transactions, keeps track of balances and stock, prints receipts and
forms and has reporting features, calender and address book. The limited
Shareware version allows 5 client accounts only. Registered version has 150.
MID.3354M M1 WORKSTATION by Peter Sturm - A comprehensive Shareware
editor/librarian for Korg M1 & M1R synths, combined with 32 track sequencer
and drum editor. Files are saved in standard MIDI format. A useful function
of the "Help" key is that it is actually used for displaying Help screens! A
dual language German/English program. We've set it to default to English but
it can easily be changed to German. Docs are also in both languages. Needs 1
Meg and a high res monitor.
MID.3548 A DISK FULL OF MIDI FILES. They are of varying quality but worth a
try. Requires use of sequencer or MIDI file player. Files are COLLEGIA,
EARTHMOV, PAPADONT, VOGUE, RUNNINGI, DAARGAAT, HEREIAM, RAVE3, RAVE2, RAVE1,
POP1, POP2, POP3, ROCK1, ROCK2, ROCK3, SAYYOU, CLUB1, CLUB2, CLUB3, TUBULAR,
DN_SOUTH, CHEERS, NEWAGE1, NEWAGE2, NEWAGE3 I_WONT, ARP.
MID.3550 COMPOSER 2 - A Shareware pattern based sequencer from David
Dickens. Colour or mono but works better in the latter. This is a major
upgrade to Composer and is now fully GEM based. It's an unusual sequencer
which can be frustratingly slow, but perseverence can be rewarding. CZPHONIX
- An editor/librarian for Casio's popular CZ series of synths. A simple to
use but comprehensive program. VZ EDIT - A Shareware editor/librarian for
the Casio VZ1 by Nigel Stanley. An essential purchase if you have this synth
or intend to get one. Register to get latest version and stop those
reminders appearing on screen at frequent intervals!
MID.3578 MIDIMENU by Marc Bradley - A utility for testing MIDI gear. It
tests each MIDI channel with status changes, program changes and control
changes. It also monitors input, giving the MIDI channel number, note
number, velocity on/off, pitchwheel and vibrato. MIDITREE - Flashes lights
on a Christmas tree in time to music, in the form of MID files. 20 files
appropriate to the Christmas season are provided. It can of course play your
own MID files. Low res only. MUSIC - 2 files in MIDI format:- Angel Talk
from Heavenly Music and Magrock from Hands On Software. These are programmed
for General MIDI, specifically the Roland Sound Canvas, but can be played on
any multi-channel MIDI set-up. Extensive docs are provided to ensure you get
the best use out of these files, which are excellently done. SCHOENBERG - An
algorithmic composing program by Gareth Jones, said to be based on
techniques developed by the Second Viennese School of composers, Schoenberg,
Berg, and Webern. As is usual with this type of program, results are rather
avant guard. SWEET 16 - A demo version (3000 event limit) of a 16 track
pattern based sequencer by Rolf Nilsson of Sweden. The full version costs
$30. A fairly comprhensive sequencer, although editing is limited to an
event list only. However, it does include system exclusive save/load which
is unusual at this price. Also, Human Quantise is nice to see.
MID.3671 MIDI MUSIC FILES - A collection of 42 classical MIDI files. It
includes pieces by Bach, Beethoven, Byrd, Chopin, Handel, Mozart,
Tchaikovsky and others.
MID.3733C ENHANCED POLYPHONIC SAMPLE SYNTHESISER (EPSS) by Copson Data/Unit
Seventeen - This is a self running demo of EPSS, with the song Atomic Man.
EPSS features 8 channel polyphony, 25 kHZ replay frequency, MIDI
in/out/thru, direct loading of samples from Roland S50 discs and many other
features. Further details available from author. Needs 1 Meg.
MID.3865 CHORDIAL by Steve Dye - A Shareware keyboard chord tutor which
plays over MIDI. Simple to use, just point at the chord name and it is
displayed on the keyboard. A rather serious drawback is that only 24 three-
note chords can be selected. DW8000 by Petri Sinisalo - A random sound
generator for the Korg DW8000 synthesiser. MIDIFOXX v2.14 by Petri Sinisalo
- Sends and receives sysex data to and from your keyboard. Data can be
edited if you know what you're doing, and saved to disk. KAWAI K1 COLLECTION
from Desktop Designs - Contains 64 fully useable new voices for K1, K1M &
K1R keyboards. ROLAND MT32 COLLECTION from Desktop Designs - Contains 64
fully useable new voices for the Roland MT32. Both voice sets contain a demo
version (no save) of the Chameleon Patch Librarian, so that you can make use
of the voices. Both voice sets are Shareware, being taken from much larger
collections, with registered users getting all 609 and 775 voice sets,
respectively. MIDI-SPECTRA v1.5 by Gareth Jones - Displays a visual
representation of notes being played over all 16 channels. It also displays
program changes and sysex data. REAL ARP v1.2 by Perti Sinisalo - A MIDI
arpeggiator for your keyboard. It includes several built-in styles and
plenty of on screen parameters to create your own. Best used with an
external sequencer. Requires 1 Meg. VFXSNDC v1.02 by Petri Sinisalo - A
random sound generator for the Ensoniq VFX keyboard. All programs are mono
only, except for the Kawai and Roland voice sets and Midi Spectra, which run
in mono or colour.
MID.4147 MIDICORD - A German pattern based sequencer. This Shareware
version is restricted to 10,000 notes, with a few other functions disabled.
It loads up with a "configuration song" with each of the 24 patterns set to
a different rhythm. Midicord is GEM based and all menu selections are in
English, but help and text files are in German. Mono only, but works with a
mono emulator. PSYCHO v1.3 - A MIDI Picture Modulator program. Neochrome and
Degas low res pictures can be "modulated" using MIDI commands and an
external MIDI controller with a sequencer function. Best results are
obtained if your equipment supports 16 MIDI channels as there are 16 colours
on screen to control. Parameters can be saved with the picture.
MID.4217 MICROTONALITY & SCALE TEMPERAMENTS for the ROLAND SOUND CANVAS by
Chas Stoddard (Avalon Music Developments) - If you have a Sound Canvas and
are interested in alternative scale temperaments then this is for you. Our
"modern" Western scale has actually only been around for 150 years or so,
and there are 75 alternative scalings dating back to the Ancient Greeks.
There are over 16 channels, that's 1200 files on this disk (in compressed
format - easily decompressed). They are sent to the instrument as MID files.
Also on disk is a lengthy text file which is a fascinating treatise on the
history of music scales and tuning, as well as instructions on how to use
the files. Both ST and PC versions are supplied on this disk.
MID.4532M ROLAND D110 MANAGER by H J Stulgies - Pro quality Shareware
editor and librarian for the Roland D110 module. Most features work with the
D5 keyboard and should work with other D-series synths, although there are
some differences between models. Recommended - but beware, there is no
English manual and this is quite a complex program. Your Shareware fee gets
you a German manual only!
MID.4580 DELAY CALCULATOR by Carl Lofgren - Used as an accessory within
your sequencer. Just enter the tempo and it will calculate possible delays.
Should work on any Atari. K-SCULPT v1.4 by Ben Hall - A librarian for the
Kawai K1 series of synths. Also KS Dumper, an accessory for loading and
sending banks or patches to the K1. MIDISPY by John Eidsvoog - A demo
version of a Codehead Software product. Basically it's a MIDI sequencer
which runs as an accessory so you need never lose inspiration even when
using your word processor (as long as you've got your synth switched on!).
It can even play back whilst you're performing another task in the
foreground. There's no save and a time limit is imposed. PICTURE MUSIC v1.2
by Gareth Jones - A compositional aid which converts 16 colour low
resolution pictures (.NEO, .PI1) into MIDI data. Several parameters can be
set to make the resulting music more musical-sounding, rather than a
collection of random notes. For £5, the author will supply Picture Music 2
which has several enhancements including saving the output as standard MIDI
files.
MID.4643C PSYCHO-FRACTAL by Gareth Jones - A "dynamic psychedelic fractal
slideshow for the Atari ST", generated by Psycho Movie, a cut down version
of which is on MID.4147. The program uses 16 Mandlebrot fractal pictures
which are colour modulated by the internal clock or external MIDI hardware.
You need a hardware sequencer (i.e. a workstation or drum machine) to make
use of the MIDI function. Most features are disabled, although there is some
room to experiment. Psycho-Fractal does not need a Midi keyboard to be
attached in order to run. However, if one is attached, it must have a built-
in sequencer, otherwise the program tends to crash! Psycho-Fractal needs 1
Meg.
MID.4980 C-BEAT from Movement Software - An ACC which displays the values of
notes, from a thirty-second to a whole note, plus triplets, calculated from
the beats per minute. DELAY CALCULATOR by Carl Lofgren - Useful little
program (or accessory) for calculating delay times in microseconds,
according to the BPM, calculating BPM by tapping the spacebar in the tempo
you want and converting BPM to hertz. GROOVE ANALOGUE SEQUENCER SIMULATOR by
Tim Wright - Said to replicate the effects of early analogue sequencers
using modern MIDI devices. Patterns can be created and chained together
producing sequences of up to 600 bars long. This is not just another MIDI
sequencer. Some things are possible with this program which I have not seen
on any other sequencer, even though the interface might appear a bit
archaic. Mono only, Not TOS 2.06. MIDIFILES - 4 drum patterns and a complete
song in standard MIDI format to load into your sequencer. Files are: 5FOUR1,
BONGOFUR, INTHEAIR, JAZZRAP2, & SHUFFL10. MIDINOTE v1.13 by Carl Hafner - a
program (or desk accessory) showing MIDI channel, MIDI note, controller, and
the note value in decimal, hex and binary. It also sends an 'all notes off'
message. PATCHKING - A demo of a generic MIDI patch editor by Waterfall
Digital. Two 'profiles' are included for Roland U110 and Yamaha TX81Z. A
number of features are disabled but there is enough to whet the appetite.
Mono only. PIANOTES V 1.03 by Anthony Spirou - Described as a MIDI file
tutor, this program allows you to load a standard MIDI file, set the tempo,
transpose, specify the channel or Omni mode and play back via a MIDI
instrument. You can step through the piece one note at a time and see the
channel, note and velocity scroll in a window or move to anywhere in the
song. An on-screen keyboard plays along with the song. Colour only. REAL-
TIME MIDI EVENT ANALYSER by Steve Dye - Detects 17 MIDI events on up to 16
channels. Mono only. SMF PLAY by Anthony Spirou - Assembler code for a
standard MIDI file player. Please note this is source code only, not an
executable program. SOLID BEAT by Donald McColl - A single MIDI file
containing 50 drum patterns, all GM compatible. STROBE 1.4 by Carl Hafner -
With a MIDI keyboard attached, your monitor displays a series of flashing
coloured bands. The faster you play, the quicker the colours change.
Although it does work in hi res, obviously low resolution colour is best.
MID.5005 JAMALONG -6 pieces by J Parisella which are designed to help you
begin or improve your improvising skills. They are supplied in both Notator
and standard MIDI format, with guidance on which notes (scales) to play
along with. SEQUENCR.ONE - 6 songs by G Carter in Sequencer One format.
MID.5094 EKED-M1 v1.0 by Steven Eker - An editor/librarian for the Korg
M1/M1R synthesizers. Runs on any Atari in any resolution. A comprehensive-
looking program and it's Freeware! SY35 - SYSEX instrument patches for
Yamaha SY35 owners in MID format. Please note, these are not standard MIDI
files and are only of use to SY35 owners.
MID.5095 CUBASE HELP - A desk accessory which loads and reads a help file
giving all Cubase keyboard commands. You can use a text editor to add useful
notes to make a customised outline Help file. Obviously, this is of use to
Cubase users only. KEYFAX - Demo MIDI files from the Keyfax Twiddly Bits
vol. 1 & 3. I would describe their style as Techno-Jazz (if there is such a
thing!). MIDI MOUSE MUSIC by Gareth Jones - Allows you to create music in a
variety of different ways. This is a unique program, being neither a
sequencer nor random music generator. Why not order this disk and see what
it can do for you! MUSICALC v1.2 - A Shareware accessory from 999 Software
for calculating delay times given beat and tempo. It also provides various
facts and figures. SMF PLAY by Peter Bogner - A standard MIDI file player
which runs as a program or accessory. Several parameters can be set on/off,
eg program and control changes, controllers, etc. ST MUSE by Gareth Jones -
A `Graphical/Algorithmic Compositional program' . This is a restricted
version of ST MUSE 2, but still has many parameters which can be set to
create varied polyphonic music. MIDISPEC - A text file entitled "The USENET
MIDI Primer" - an `unofficial' MIDI specification for techies only. How this
differs from the official version published by the International MIDI
Association, I could not say. BIG BEN & TEMPOCAL - 2 desk accessories which
run under MROS.
MID.5104 EXPLORER 32 - Shareware Editor/Librarian for Roland D-series
synths. Formerly distributed by C-Lab, copyright now reverted to author,
Michael Haydn. Fully-featured, graphic editing. No libraries on this disk
but you will be sent some on registering. Mono only. LA-LOAD is a utility
for sending set-ups to the synth. MIDI FILE PRINTER by `Mad Harry' - load a
MIDI file and print out in the author's rather idiosyncratic form of
notation. Traditionalists might find it hard to read though! Also gives
various other pieces of information on a file. Requires GDOS. MUSIC - A
folder of 6 standard MIDI files. Titles are:- BLUES01, BLUES06, BONKFUNK,
FUNK_LAW, TAKEHOME, TWISTIN.
MID.5176 SWEET 16 by RONI Music - Despite its name, this is a 32 track
Shareware sequencer with a respectable resolution of 192 PPQN. It is pattern
based with an arrange list and patterns can be any length. Good editing
functions are supported via a piano-roll type screen and an event page. A
folder of 8 songs is included in its own .SNG format. Standard MID files can
also be imported. Two versions are supplied, Sweet 16 Demo version, with
save disabled, and Sweet 16 Lite, with save enabled but several other
functions disabled. The full version is available on registration from UK
based Hands On Software. PATCHPAD V1.0 by David Burden - An ACC which
enables you to select one of 128 patches for each of 16 channels. Useful in
conjunction with Sweet 16. GM_SLCTR v1.0 by Peter Bogner - General MIDI
Sound Selector for the Korg 03R/W, Roland SC55 and U220. Unfortunately, both
program and docs are in German. If you have one of these instruments it must
be worth a try. All programs on this disk are MONO ONLY except for Sweet 16
Lite and the Sweet 16 Demo, both of which run in colour or mono.
MID.5254 DUMP-IT! v2.31 by Ben Hall - A handy little program (or ACC) to
load and transmit synth patches as SYSEX data. Fast in operation. No danger
of overwriting all your patches as you can audition them on your synth
first. RIFF-O-RAMA by Stephen Munslow - A sequencer for writing RIFFs of up
to 16 notes. Although simple, it may provide inspiration and there is quite
a bit of control over such things as note, velocity, length values, shuffle
notes, play backwards, etc. Can be recorded on an external sequencer but
unfortunately doesn't save as a standard MIDI file. ST-MIDI-EX by Harry
Wootan - Use for receiving and transmitting SYSEX data, although data dumps
must be sent by synth. Good help file from within the program. MIDIAN v1.01
by Alexander Weis - A program for managing, displaying and analysing Midi
data of all kinds. It is also a bank loader, sample loader, MIDI monitor,
data converter and more. The bank loader can send, receive and store MIDI
data and writes it out in SMF, Steinberg Satellite or Midian formats. The
sample loader stores samples using the MIDI sample dump standard. Midian
displays a comprehensive analysis of files when they are loaded. It can
import data in Sound Designer or Avalon formats and export in Avalon format.
Multi-TOS compatible. TONY - An Editor/Librarian program for the Yamaha
TG100. Presentation is very good with a nice custom interface and everything
you need to edit and store patches/banks for this synth. You can edit
voices, multi sets, the system and the drum set and up to four banks can be
held in memory. Includes a multi manager to address multi banks. Complete
with extensive on-line Help. Mono only, needs 1 Mb.
MID.5255 BUSKER - A collection of 8 MIDI files which basically serve as a
demo of MIDI Busker from Station Software, which will give you a good
indication of the quality of this series. Titles are:- Acoudem2, Acoudemo,
Beatdemo, Bluedemo, Classic, Funkdemo, Jazzdemo & Latindem. Guitar
strumming is particularly good.
MID.5272M TAKE 500 - A very nice looking editor/librarian for the Yamaha
TG500. The program was written for Yamaha themselves but is Public Domain.
It has lots of functions and a beautiful interface. All editor/librarians
should look and feel like this! Surely a `must' for owners of this
instrument. German authors but good English manual on disk, includes on-
line Help. The rest of the disk is made up of folders containing over 100
MID files, most of which are short drum fills in various styles.
MID.5310 MIDIBAK Styles - 42 drum and percussion styles in .MID format.
There are 7 broad groups:- African, Dance, Jazz, Latin, Reggae, Rock and
SoulFunk. The tracks are very well done and several (8 to 98!) bars long.
There are 2 versions of each file; one as a single merged track and a second
with each drum occupying a separate track. If you usually use only a
fraction of your kit's available sounds this will show you how it's done!
Shareware from MIDIMUSE SEQ, registration gets you another 84 styles.
MID_UTIL - A folder containing 4 programs which make changes to MIDI type 0
files. CTL_TRIM - Strips notes from the file where the control event is
zero. ONE_TEMPO - Rescales clocks between each MIDI event to a constant
tempo. Useful for synchronising a song to a drum machine etc. QUANTMID -
Allows a file to be quantised without altering the way it sounds, i.e. it
can make a song played rubato tidy enough for printing as notation. REMV_SUS
- Strips out sustain events and moves Note Off events to compensate. The
result sounds the same but takes less memory. Note again that these programs
do not work with MIDI type 1 files.
MID.5312 SSD PATCHES - A disk full of Sorcerer Sound Productions' patch
files, including voices for Roland D-110 module and other D-series synths,
Roland GM70 Guitar controller, Yamaha 4 op synths, Yamaha TX81Z (in General
MIDI format) and drum patterns for Yamaha RX21. Also on the disk are two
accessories for loading and transferring files via MIDI, SYSXPRESS and
MINI_DUMPSTOR.
MID.5369 MID2TXT by Peter Bogner - Enter a MIDI file for full analysis.
MIDIKIA4 by Peter Bogner - Displays a piano keyboard across the full width
of the screen. Notes are highlighted as you play a real keyboard. KARA4TOS
by Peter Bogner - A Midi based Karaoke system for your Falcon! It takes a
MIDI Karaoke file (compatible with those used by the PC program Soft
Karaoke) and outputs it to your Midi equipment while displaying the words to
the song on screen. Unfortunately there are no Midi Karaoke files supplied.
GENERAL MIDI MULTI-SET EDITOR FOR THE KORG 03R/W by Peter Bogner - Due to
the fact that the Korg 03R/W only supports one multi-set, all data is
normally lost when you switch off. This program allows you to create or
change multi-sets and save them to disk for transmitting to the Korg at any
time. You can choose the sound group, sound name (GM mode), the volume and
parameter setting for each channel. It is also possible to swap between the
GM bank and the 03R/W's soundbank. Runs as a PRG or ACC. SMF PLAYER v1.1 by
Peter Bogner - A nice GEM based program which simply outputs any standard
Midi file (format 0 or 1) to your synth. In addition, you apply a few
different effects to your data and the Midi clock function allows you to
synchronise your synth with the play function.
MID.5436 ALESIS D4 DRUMSET EDITOR v3.0 by Lubos Tilka - Allows easy editing
of this drum module. It lets you to edit all 21 drumsets of the D4 as well
as the trigger setup and remap a program table. Emphasis is on ease of use,
you do not have to use the D4 edit buttons, data wheel and display. These
are all handled on your computer screen using the mouse and keyboard
instead. If that's not enough, the program also acts as an archiver,
allowing you to back up D4 data. This latest version can receive SYSEX dumps
directly from the D4 and can also change global parameters such as MIDI
Thru, Program Change and Controllers. Looks good, pity we don't have an
Alesis D4 to try it out on! MIDIPLAY by Alexander Seitz - A standard MIDI
file player with control over MIDI channels, voices, tempo etc. Demo
version with some facilities disabled. German dialogue. THE PIANO PLAYER by
Peter Bogner - Yet another standard Midi file player. What makes this one so
different is that the keys on a piano keyboard (on screen) are highlighted
appropriately as each note is played, hence the name of the program. Easy to
use, but with instructions built into program. MMPIDEMO by Lorien Dunn -
Microtonal MIDI Performance Instrument! It patches alternative tuning
systems into MIDI. This is a demo version with no save but the manual
extract on disk will get you started. If you want to read more about this
subject try the extensive text file on MID.4217. PLAYBACK v1.1 - A standard
MIDI file player by John Janssen. Not a very pretty interface but well
featured and it does the job. DTONATOR v3.0 by T Rochebois - A complete
editor for the Roland D5, D10, D20, and D110. Very plain interface but all
the necessary parameters are there on one screen making it easy to use.
MID.5876 MIDI ENHANCER by Mad Harry - Allows you to play microtonal music
(i.e. alternative tuning systems) on your synthesiser, as long as it can
send on 2 different channels (or use 2 MIDI instruments and a MIDI Mixer).
Good English docs on disk. MOZDIV.MID - Mozart's first Divertimenti in 5
movements supplied in MID format. MOZDIV.CUB - The first 2 of the above
movements in Cubase form. QX21AQX7 - The Bleep Bleep collection from
Sorcerer Sound Productions. 3 Techno/House sequences for dumping to any
hardware sequencer but specifically designed for Yamaha QX21/QX7 and
compatibles. SY77DATA by Andrew Ivimey - Two sound banks for the Yamaha SY77
based on those available on the Yamaha DX7. MIDIKEY - An ACC which displays
a keyboard on screen. With a MIDI source connected, clicking on the area
below the keyboard reveals the note and velocity. SYSXPRESS by Tom Bajoras -
An ACC which sends SYSEX data files from disk to your MIDI synth. It is
fully compatible with GENPATCH and can be used as a direct replacement for
it. Useful when you consider that SYSXPRESS is free.
MID.5891 EPS16+ DISK WIZARD by Steve Quartly - A disk manager for the
Ensoniq EPS. You can catalogue, list directories, delete, format, write
labels, write the EPS OS to disk, and more.
MID.5892 MIDI FILE PRINTER by Mad Harry - Load a MIDI file and print it out
in the author's rather idiosyncratic form of notation. Traditionalists might
find it hard to read though as this guy is pushing an organisation called
the Music Notation Modernization Association! There are two versions of the
program, one for ST and Falcon, the other for the TT (or Falcon with FPU).
Includes several example files and full C source code. This version replaces
the earlier version on MID.5104. Requires (Speedo)GDOS to output your work.
Multi-tasking friendly and includes support for the GEM Clipboard.
MID.5969 ARPEGGIATOR v1.11d by Electronic Cow - A 2 channel, 8 note MIDI
arpeggiator. Notes can be entered via MIDI or using the on-screen keyboard.
Tempo, pan, fade and other parameters can be set and played back via tape
deck style controls i.e. forwards, backwards, random or 'ping-pong'. This
demo version is restricted to 4 notes and, although you can save as an ARP
file, you need to register to save as a MID file. 17 example ARP files are
supplied. GM70VS - 128 Roland GM-70 patches by Sorcerer Sound Productions,
plus Genpatch by John Eidsvoog (demo version) for loading patches. MIDI
MONITOR V0.84 by Electronic Cow - Analyses incoming MIDI data by 15
different criteria on 16 channels. Runs as an ACC so that you can monitor
MIDI activity from within any GEM based sequencer. RUMBLE v1.0 by Naturesoft
- Demo version of an editor/librarian for the Novation Bass Station
keyboard. The demo restricts changes to the edit buffer only i.e. you can't
save your work. There are several other restrictions which are removed when
you register. Mono only. ST to MIDI CONVERTER PLUS by Andrew Gower -
Converts chip music from games into 3-channel MIDI output. Obviously you
need a MIDI synth or sound module. Not all games work - the success rate is
approximately 70% but even so this is quite remarkable and possibly unique.
This latest version supports drum emulation, is compatible with more games
and uses less memory. It also includes a patch which lets you use it with
some programs which run from the bootsector. TWANG v1.0 by Naturesoft - Demo
version of an editor/librarian for the Roland GR-09 Guitar Synthesiser. The
demo restricts changes to the edit buffer only i.e. you can't save your
work. There are several other restrictions which are removed when you
register. Mono only. WIBBLY WAVE v0.4 by Electronic Cow - An easy to use
sample synthesiser which allows you to generate 8-bit AVR samples from 4 DCO
waveforms and 3 DCA envelopes, and finally control the frequency (pitch) and
modulation ("wibbling"). There is no play facility within the program so
samples have to be saved and loaded into your own sample player or editor.
MOUSE MUSIC by Sorcerer Sound Productions - Generates random music from your
MIDI synth when you move your mouse.
MID.5970 A-880 MANAGER V1.0 from Massana Pseudo-Soft - AN ACC which allows
remote control with the Roland A-880 patcher/mixer. Modify connections
between your MIDI devices without moving from your Desktop. Includes a
database in which you can assign names to inputs, outputs and banks.
GUITAR94 - Voices for the Uberheim Prommer Sampler and Roland D110 tones &
patchs from Sorcerer Sound Productions, plus the ubiquitous Genpatch by John
Eidsvoog (demo version) for loading the patches. JUNO2LIB by Kevin Houser -
A patch librarian for the Roland Alpha Juno 1 & 2. The supplied patches
allow you to access all the Juno's programmable patches and save the on your
ST. Fully compatible with C-LAB's Soft Link. SOUND CHIP SYNTH V1.02 by
Electronic Cow - Allows you to control the Yamaha YM-2419 sound chip easily.
Create and save patches (13 supplied ready-made) for later use. Some limited
MIDI control. SC7 CONTROL by David Tomes - Controls some parameters of the
Roland SC7 sound module that can only be accessed by MIDI. Various effects
can be generated and sent to the SC7 and all 16 drum banks can be edited.
The author would like to hear from you if you own this module, which was
aimed at the PC/Mac market.
MID.6044 MIDIMAN97 by Sorcerer Sound Productions - 4 PAN files (patch
controllers) for use with Hollis Research's MIDIman. Files are: GM70.PAN,
PROMMER.PAN, SDE.PAN, SPX50D.PAN. These files are only of use to you if you
have a copy of MIDIman and one of the above synths. THEMIX - 8 MIDI files
set up specifically for use on Roland synthesizers, although they are in SMF
Type 0 format and could therefore be used with any synth. Rock, Blues and
Reggae styles.
MID.6045 192 TX81Z VOICES/PATCHES AND MICROTONAL FILES AND EXPERIMENTAL
MIDIFILES from Sorcerer Sound Productions. Most files are in SMF Type 0
format, others are in Hybrid Arts' Genpatch format. SYSEXPRESS.ACC is
included on the disk to allow you to download the Genpatch files.
MID.6046 GR EMULATOR VOICES FOR ROLAND D SERIES SYNTHS by Sorcerer Sound
Productions - A collection of 14 voices ready for downloading to your synth.
They are in Hybrid Arts' Genpatch format and SYSEXPRESS.ACC is included to
allow you to send them to the synth. ROLAND SC/JV EXPRESSION CONTROL PACK 2

synth. TXMICROT by Sorcerer Sound Productions - 64 TX81z voices/patches and
microtonal files in Genpatch format. PULSAR by Neil Wakeling - A Shareware
analogue style riff sequencer. Based on The Groove Analogue Sequencer
Simulator (MID.4980), this version displays note values rather than MIDI
numbers. SYX SENDER by The Resevoir Gods - Simply drag your .SYX file onto
the SYX_SEND.PRG and this file will be automatically sent to your currently
connected MIDI devices. Simple, yet effective.
MID.6120 AUTOPLAY by D J Stanton - Turns your Atari into a hardware
sequencer without the need for a monitor or mouse! Requires the use of a
MIDI file player. Peter Bogner's KARA4TOS (which does the job admirably) is
also on the disk. Up to ten "banks" may be assigned, each containing up to
10 MIDI pieces. Simply set up your play list, then it's a case of pressing
the appropriate keys to play the relevant files without the need for mouse
or monitor! Principle use of this would be on stage during a gig. MTOOLS
v1.20 by Mark Wherry - A MIDI harmonising program, i.e. you play a tune on
the keyboard and this program plays the harmony. Various parameters can be
set, e.g. scale, harmony type, transpose, key. Register with the author to
get many more harmonies, scales, presets, plus a manual. SLAP BACK by D J
Stanton - An ACC which lets you add sync'd delay to your music. Type in the
BPM of your track and choose the length of your delay, in fractions of a
bar, and the delay time in milliseconds is returned. THE KIT by Sorcerer
Sound Productions - 23 MIDI drum fills, primarily designed for use on Roland
synths on channel 10. As they are in SMF Type 0 format, they could be used
with any synth. Load into your sequencer and arrange as you see fit.
MID.6273 MIDI MUSIC FILES - A collection of re-arranged popular music
pieces. We're not talking about the latest releases in the hit parade, but
these are more modern than most of the MIDI disks in our collection. Files

SPRINGS, SPRING_0. Guitar files are ALEGRIAS, MALAGENS, MALAGN_1, SEVILANA,
SOLEAR_1.
MID.6308 A880 by Fred Fee - An editor for the Roland A880 MIDI Patchbay. It
lets you store one bank of 64 patches corresponding to the bank in the A880.
These can of course be edited and transmitted back to the A880 either as
single patches or as an entire bank. They can also be saved to disk. Setting
up the A880 to send and receive patches is somewhat tricky but the excellent
doc takes you through the procedure step by step. Requires 1.3 of the A880
operating system (1.2 owners can obtain an upgrade from Roland). Mono only.
CHATMIDI by Jos Theelen - A clever little program which lets you send MIDI
signals over the telephone! Lets assume you want a friend to hear your
latest composition. Assuming he also owns an Atari, this program lets you
play your composition live through his synth! You can even chat to your
friend via the terminal window whilst online. Obviously you both need to be
running Chatmidi and a modem is required. The delay between the MIDI signal
being transmitted and received is only about 1/360th of a second at 9600
bps, so it's practically real-time. It's just a shame you can't set the baud
rate higher than 9600, otherwise it may have been possible to send Sysex
dumps too. CHEETAH by Fred Fee - Allows you to transfer data between the
Cheetah MD16 and MD16R and your Atari. Please note, this is not an editor.
It merely takes the entire memory of the Cheetah and dumps it to disk. Any
editing must be done on the Cheetah itself. This utility lets you store the
memory dump and restore it to the Cheetah at a later date. JV180 V1.2 by
Fred Fee - Roland JV880 to JV1080 patch converter. Patches can be uploaded
directly from the JV880 to the Atari, then synths switched over and the
patches sent to either of the JV1080's memory banks. It's probably best to
store the patches on disk first. They may be saved in the program's own
format, Dr T's X-Or format, in Sound source data disk format or as a MIDI
type 0 sysex dump. The patches should sound almost identical when played on
the JV1080 but there may be some differences. In such cases, the program
does give you access to a number of parameters which can be tweaked. JV880D
by Fred Fee - An ACC which performs bulk dumps when used with a Roland
JV880. These can be of patches, performances, drums or sysex dumps. This
handy ACC handles all types. Please note this is not an editor, it merely
allows you to store the data from the JV880's memory bank on an Atari disk.
All editing must be performed using the synth itself. JV1080D by Fred Fee -
An ACC which performs the same functions (as JV880D) for the Roland JV1080
synth. MIDI SET by Damion Jones - Written specifically for users of
Breakthru (but useful in other applications), this ACC lets you set up the
parameters in your Controller with minimum fuss and bother. This program
supports more parameters than most keyboards/expanders actually use and can
be used alongside any GM compatible synth. REAL MIDI by Dobashi Hiroshi -
Displays incoming MIDI data in real time. It displays the note entered along
with a graphical display of the strength of that note. The graphical display
is intended as an aid to those learning to play or who have difficulty
distinguishing between different notes. Data may be sent on any MIDI channel
and is monitored on an unused channel. Needs 1Mb, Mono Only. SYX_SEND by
Fred Fee - Countless patches can be found on the Internet in SYX format.
This program lets you send them directly to your synth. VZ DUMP V2.0 by Fred
Fee - Handles bulk MIDI data from any of the Casio VZ series of synths.
Although the voice banks are compatible across the range, the OPMEM, VC+OP,
Multi Patch and Full Banks are not. As well as storing dumps, this program
allows you to send data between different synths in the VZ series,
converting the data if necessary to ensure compatibility. Please note, there
are no bank editing features. VZ Dump merely receives and stores the bank
data on disk ready for transmission back to the synth at a later date.
